Rural Tax 2020 – Practical Solutions for Unusual Times (Webcast)

The primary sector is the single largest industry and earner for New Zealand. Any tax changes could make a significant impact on it.

This webcast will assist participants in understanding the current tax issues facing the sector.

The focus of the three-hour webcast is on using case studies to highlight the issues that arise in primary sector businesses and working through the options available to mitigate the taxation consequences arising.

This will include the consequences of COVID-19, M bovis and the associated compensation and the drought.  Other topical issues such as farm debt mediation and milk price futures will also be covered.

The presenter is an experienced primary sector tax adviser who has drawn from real life situations as inspiration for the case studies making up the webcast.

The webcast will be presented in a Q&A style where the presenter will work through the case studies which highlight the issues and practical solutions to those issues.

Upon satisfactory completion of this activity you will:

  • remain up-to-date on taxation and accounting issues affecting the primary sector.
  • Have done case studies on the key contemporaneous primary sector tax issues

Jim Gordon FCA started preparing farm accounts in 1974.  He has been involved with almost all of the primary sector tax reforms since 1986.  Jim brings a wide range of both theoretical and practical experience to his presentations.
