The road to market for a start-up can be fraught with challenges – in order to provide for as smooth a
journey as possible one must be prepared.

This seminar will look at some of the issues that may arise during a start-up’s journey to commercialisation. It will
not only aim to provide valuable tips and knowledge to those who are new to the field, but will also provide an
outline of new tax policy and the practical implications to seasoned travellers.

The seminar will include discussion on:

  • The life-cycle of a start-up and considerations at different stages
  • Accounting for R&D and other intangible assets
  • The new R&D tax credit regime – who is eligible and what expenditure is eligible?
  • Treatment of R&D losses
  • Grants available to start-ups now and going forward into the R&D tax credit regime
  • Employee share schemes and practical considerations

By attending this seminar, you will get a good understanding of the typical stages that a start-up will go through
to get to market, and the considerations in each of these. You will also have an understanding of the accounting
and tax treatments of R&D and other intangible assets, as well as a grasp on the wider tax issues to consider
