Foreign Investment Funds Update 2025 (webinar)
In recent times, as the world struggles to deal with increasing inflation, shortage of supplies and labour, and the cost-of-living crisis, the share markets around the world have been volatile. Foreign investments are a constant headache for many advisors. Often investments are tailored to achieve a commercial outcome, but this can create complexity when completing tax calculations at year end. Following the release of the investor reports, we have seen a number of issues and depending upon the investment mix, choosing the right method is critical.
In addition, following the IRD request that individuals fill in an IR 1261, there have been a number of concessions granted to reduce the time involved for tax agents/taxpayers in filling out the form, but does this actually change anything?
Now more than ever before, advisors need to be aware of the options available and issues to ensure we advise our clients correctly in this highly technical area of the law.
This course will work through the Foreign Investment Fund regime at a high level also covering changes to the rules and common tax issues that investors are dealing with including disclosure requirements.
Upon satisfactory completion of this activity, you will be able to:
- articulate the FIF rules
- explain the current issues impacting on taxpayers.
Suited to:
CA/Lawyer/Advisor – Manager level (but potentially all levels subject to knowledge base)
Duration: 1.00 CPD hours (55 mins plus 5 mins Q&A)
