Taxation of Alternative Asset Classes 2023 (webinar)

In recent times investors have been offered a myriad of different investment opportunities outside of the norm. For many investors, the returns are often too good to be true and understanding exactly what they are investing in can be difficult, e.g. Non-Fungible Tokens. While the returns offered may be enticing, it is crucial to understand the tax implications to ensure this is factored into the return expectation and to ensure tax compliance if maintained.

The webinar will outline the tax implications of the acquiring and disposal of asset classes including:

  • Digital (including Cryptoassets and other digital assets);
  • Agricultural (including carbon credits);
  • Commodities (including gold);
  • Equity Investments (including ETFs and Angel Investments)
  • Derivatives (including options and futures); We will discuss an outline of what these asset classes are, and consider practical tax issues, including outlining Inland Revenue guidance where applicable.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • articulate tax issues in a broad sense on investments in alternative asset classes
  • appreciate an overview of what these asset classes are
  • describe the tax issues arising from the acquiring and disposal of these assets

Total of CPD Hours: 1.25 (1 Hour 15 min)

Suited to:

Anyone with a direct or indirect interest in investment in the described asset classes, and any lawyer or accountant that has clients investing these assets.
