Tax Basics for Newbies is a tax course intended for those in their first two years of practice.
Tax Basics for Newbies will provide coverage of the key elements of the income tax and GST regimes. This webinar series will
comprise a total of 21 webinars. Following the introduction, each webinar will explore another aspect of the New Zealand
tax regime. The course will cover assessable income, allowable deductions, residence and source, before considering
the depreciation regime, financial arrangements and how foreign equity are taxed. The income tax section will include
consideration of how individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships, and look-through companies are taxed. The series will finish
with three webinars on the GST regime.
Upon satisfactory completion of this activity you will understand:
- How New Zealand taxes residents and non-residents
- The way New Zealand taxes different entities
- How to identify supplies subject to GST and when they can be zero-rated
- The extent to which input tax can be claimed and needs to be apportioned
